3-Club wind - Issue #11

A Spin Around the Golf World

These are the winter doldrums….even in Texas. I managed to get out today for the first time in 3-4 weeks - and the swing showed it… Such an elusive game. One of those days when the club felt so absolutely foreign in my hands. Why is that? And how is it that just a few weeks makes you feel like the game is absolutely gone and you have to go back to the drawing board?

Golf is vicious. Anyway…as we all sit here in the cold and wet wishing we were in the Caribbean playing in the warm ocean breezes, golf has actually started back up in other parts of the world. In order to mentally transport ourselves, I thought for this issue we’d take a look around at what’s happening in the game of golf in areas where it’s warm enough to play!

It’s the Age of the “Collaboration”

Put this one up there on top of the “I Never Thought I’d See That” collaboration list. Frankly, for two individuals whom I would normally take a hard pass on - this was oddly very watchable??? Not a Bryson or Paige fan - but Bryson actually puts out some decent content. This one is an odd curiosity that’s quite interesting.

While these things can feel a bit forced - it’s still cool/interesting to see elite golfers swinging next to average Joes….even if their equipment sponsor is forcing them to do it.

And if you want to feel completely inadequate about your driver swing, check out the Rory/Micah driver showdown….just ridiculous. Hail hail to the short guys…

And speaking of Rory - the dude is off to a hot 2024 start with a win in Dubai…can he do it for the big ones this year?

Tommy Fleetwood seems like a really decent dude who would be great to have a beer with…..and I’d kill for his little punch shot follow through. Rick also seems likable - so this is a fun watch:

Speaking of Tiger, Torrey is just not the same without the Big Cat in the field….but this first time winner has a pretty wacky hand tattoo…https://www.tennisworldusa.org/other_news/golf/138838/matthieu-pavon-curious-tattoo-on-right-hand/

It’s about time….I used to love the AT&T, but the field for the last umpteen years has been pretty lame. Eager to see this get back to something meaningful…

And while we are talking about Tiger….and Pebble, time to reminisce about the good old days of golf at Pebble - this was peak Tiger…

And Nelly and Grant drops a couple of weeks ago - then Nelly follows it up with a 2024 win. That swing is so money…
